“Equipping boys for productive lives as responsible husbands, fathers and citizens.”
Teen boys today receive conflicting messages regarding maturity and manhood. One message, often maintained by parents, is the unrealistic view that teens are special and above the day-to-day “drudgery” of doing dishes, taking out the garbage and other menial tasks. The other message leads teens to crave autonomy, desiring to be “king” of their world, free to do whatever they want, as long as the outcome boosts their self-esteem and perceived worth in the world.
Unfortunately, the first group of teens often become what their parents refer to as “lazy” enjoying hours of television, social media, videogames and friends while claiming they have no time to help at home or get a part-time job. The second group of personal “kingdom makers” appear to succeed on the outside, but often struggle to maintain close friendships or contribute anything of lasting value to the world.
How did teen boys lose sight of their God-given purpose as young men, future husbands and fathers? What can we do to reverse the trend?
At Impact Ranch, our mission is to help teen boys embrace a vision for the work God created them to do. What we offer is a refuge and an opportunity to unplug, unwind and refuel while they spend time with the Lord seeking His direction for their lives.
The truth is that a man’s hands are ordained to build, protect and provide. Men are created to find passion and purpose in the fulfillment of their responsibility to contribute to society through their work. The Bible states that believers are born again in Jesus “to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10)
The Journey at Impact Ranch is a program that partners with parents in the development of their sons’ biblical manhood. Through ongoing mentoring, we help identify and encourage the individual gifts and goals of young men who seek to build more than personal wealth.
Once their God-ordained vision is grasped, Journey “graduates” focus less on personal gain and more on building the kingdom of God through transformational attitudes, speech, and behavior.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain…Sons are a heritage from the LORD…” (Ps. 127:1a, 3a)
Our hope is to influence young men at a heart level so they will commit with confidence to build the kingdom of God by being responsible teens today and godly husbands, fathers and citizens in the future.
We are grateful for each of you who support our mission as part of the Impact Ranch “family!”
